Slam Session

With images of intertwined arms and legs, bodies lifted above the crowds, and frenzied movement that seems to continue past the edges of the frames, photographer Bill Daniel captures the energy, anger, and social discontent of the punk subculture.

"Punk Doubt: Angry Optimism in the Slam Pit," Daniel's documentary photos of Austin's then-burgeoning hard-core scene taken from 1979-1984 will be on view at the Alternate Current Art Space March 11 through 19 in conjunction with the South by Southwest Music and film Conference in Austin.
