The photo story:
Well, it was 1979 and everything was boring. But there were some strange sounds coming from a Mexican dive bar called Rauls, which was right on The Drag across from the University of Texas, where I was resisting a brainwashing in the business school. I started going to these weird new wave and punk rock shows and I got very excited. Not having any musical ability but wanting to participate, I started clumsily taking photos. The next few years zoomed by, and the music and my photography evolved.

Some Texas bands I photographed:
The Big Boys, Butthole Surfers, The Dicks, Really Red, Buffalo Gals, The Hugh Beaumont Experience, DRI, The Stains, Marching Plague, The Offenders, Jerry's Kids, Toxic Shock, The Inserts

Some of the touring bands:
Minor Threat, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Circle Jerks, Bad Brains, Birthday Party, The Minute Men, Husker Du, TSOL, Flipper

The book idea:
After many years I'm really going to try really really hard to get a book published. A lot of credit for the inspiration of the book (and its title) goes to Michael Nott and his fine fanzine, The Western Round Up.
